The evidence for shark cartilage is limited. For cancer, the data shows it's likely ineffective.
For age-related macular degeneration (vision loss as you age), diabetic retinopathy (diabetes-related eye damage), Kaposi sarcoma (a type of cancer), osteoarthritis (joint wear and tear), and psoriasis (skin condition), we don't have enough reliable evidence to say whether it works or doesn't. The bottom line: proven benefits are lacking.

Shark cartilage is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth, but digestive upset is common—constipation, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, and bloating have been reported. Some people also experience dizziness, fatigue, taste disturbances, or low blood pressure.
Rarely, serious effects like altered consciousness, weakness, decreased sensation, liver inflammation, blood sugar changes, or swelling have been reported. There isn't enough safety data to recommend shark cartilage during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Suggested Usage: As a dietary supplement, adults take 1 capsule for every 11 pounds of body weight for the first 3 weeks - NOT TO EXCEED 18 CAPSULES DAILY. Take in equal amounts 15 minutes before meals. Thereafter take 4 to 6 capsules daily or as directed by physician.
