Here's the thinking behind this one. Fostamatinib (Tavalisse) calms down an overactive immune system to keep your platelets from being destroyed. Shark cartilage, on the other hand, has shown in lab dishes that it might rev up the immune system. So in theory, the two could work against each other, and the worry is that shark cartilage might blunt how well fostamatinib protects your platelets, possibly leading to more bruising or bleeding.

I want to be honest, though: this is purely theoretical and based only on test-tube studies. It has never actually been reported in real people, so I'm not going to alarm you. Still, since fostamatinib treats a serious platelet condition and shark cartilage hasn't shown real benefit, it's worth a quick chat with your doctor or pharmacist before adding it.
