Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
SightVite contains 2 active ingredients: lutein and zeaxanthin. Both are carotenoids—natural pigments found in plants and the eye—and they work together to support eye health.
The product comes in softgel capsules with safflower oil as the carrier and includes other inactive ingredients like gelatin, glycerin, beeswax, and lecithin.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Lutein is possibly effective for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and cataracts, according to the evidence we have on file. Zeaxanthin is also possibly effective for AMD.
For other conditions like retinitis pigmentosa, retinopathy of prematurity, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia, the evidence suggests these ingredients are not effective. For zeaxanthin's role in age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer disease, asthma, and breast cancer, the evidence isn't established well enough to rate.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both lutein and zeaxanthin are generally well tolerated at typical supplement doses. Lutein doses up to 20 mg daily haven't shown adverse effects in studies.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding, both ingredients are rated likely safe—but there isn't enough data on higher supplement doses in these situations. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take any antidiabetes medications, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding SightVite. Zeaxanthin may theoretically increase the risk of low blood sugar when combined with these drugs.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
SightVite is designed for people looking to support eye health, especially those concerned about AMD or cataracts. If you take diabetes medications, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product because zeaxanthin may affect blood sugar levels.
It's generally well tolerated, but pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should discuss it with their own healthcare provider first.

SightVite by KeyView Labs Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
SightVite by KeyView Labs contains zeaxanthin, which has documented interactions with antidiabetes drugs.
Zeaxanthin may theoretically increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when taken alongside diabetes medications. Animal studies show zeaxanthin has blood-sugar-lowering effects, though population studies don't show that eating more zeaxanthin and lutein prevents type 2 diabetes from developing.

Zeaxanthin
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking zeaxanthin with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
In an animal diabetic model, zeaxanthin has hypoglycemic effects. However, population research has found that increasing intake of dietary zeaxanthin plus lutein does not decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
