SignaLean Plus contains 7 active ingredients, most of them plant sterols (phytosterols) — compounds found naturally in plant sources that may help manage cholesterol. The core of the formula is a phytosterol blend providing at least 400 mg total, made up of beta-sitosterol, sitostanol, and three others: campesterol, stigmasterol, and brassicasterol.
It also includes potato protein extract and an ingredient called CardioAid. The tablet is made with inactive ingredients like dicalcium phosphate, vegetable stearine, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, and an aqueous film coating — these are fillers, binders, and the tablet shell.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Beta-sitosterol in this product is likely effective for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH, or prostate enlargement), and possibly effective for familial hypercholesterolemia (inherited high cholesterol) and coronary heart disease. Sitostanol is possibly effective for familial hypercholesterolemia as well.
The potato protein extract, however, is rated possibly ineffective for colorectal cancer, heart attack, stroke, and overall mortality — meaning the evidence doesn't support using it for those purposes. We don't have effectiveness data on file for campesterol, stigmasterol, brassicasterol, or CardioAid.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beta-sitosterol is generally well tolerated in the short term, though you should check with your healthcare provider before starting. The most common side effects are constipation, diarrhea, gas, indigestion, and nausea.
There's also a case report of acute pancreatitis in one person, though symptoms didn't return when he stopped. Sitostanol is well tolerated; no adverse effects were reported in clinical trials, though it may theoretically cause diarrhea or excess fat in the stool because it reduces cholesterol absorption.
Potato protein extract is rated likely safe as food (cooked, whole potatoes), but the concentrated extract in this supplement hasn't been well studied in pregnancy or while breastfeeding — the safety data advises against medicinal potato use in those settings. Raw, green, or sprouted potatoes contain natural toxins (glycoalkaloids) that are not destroyed by cooking and can cause serious poisoning.
Potato juice has been linked to heartburn, abdominal bloating, diarrhea, and excess mucus production.

Potato Protein extract
Succinylcholine
In humans, consuming potatoes prior to preoperative fasting prolongs the duration of the succinylcholine-induced neuromuscular block and slows recovery from anesthesia. This interaction is possibly related to inhibition of the butyrylcholinesterase enzyme by potato glycoalkaloids.
Thrombolytic Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of potato may enhance the effects of thrombolytic drugs. A carboxypeptidase inhibitor isolated from potato tubers may have inhibitory effects on thrombin-activatable thrombolysis inhibitor, and thereby enhance the activity of thrombolytic agents.
