Strawberry Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Herbal Terra
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Strawberry against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Strawberry by Herbal Terra
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: certified organic strawberry (Fragaria vesca) dried leaf liquid extract. The inactive ingredient is menstruum, a liquid base used to create the extract.
Strawberry leaf has been used traditionally to support various aspects of health, though the evidence for specific benefits remains limited in the data we hold.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for strawberry extract isn't established in our data. The product's label notes uses for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure, but the effectiveness ratings we have show insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for any of these conditions.
That doesn't mean it's ineffective — it means rigorous clinical trials haven't yet been done or published widely enough to draw firm conclusions.
How safe is it?
Some data gaps
Strawberry fruit itself is widely eaten and considered safe in normal food amounts. When taken as a concentrated supplement, though, it's less well studied.
The extract appears generally well tolerated in medicinal doses, though rarely it has caused nausea — one clinical trial found this in some participants taking 50 grams daily of freeze-dried strawberry powder. Allergic reactions are rare but possible, including oral allergy syndrome, skin reactions, and contact dermatitis if applied topically.
We don't have safety data on file for strawberry in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Because this is a concentrated supplement rather than food, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you if you're pregnant, nursing, or planning to be.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your medications if you take p-glycoprotein substrate drugs or blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (such as aspirin, clopidogrel, or warfarin). Strawberry extract may affect how these work.
Use the search tool on this page with your exact medication names.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.
Strawberry leaf extract may appeal to you if you're interested in traditional herbal support for heart or metabolic health, but the evidence for those uses isn't firm yet. If you take blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs, or certain other medications that rely on p-glycoprotein, check with your pharmacist first — strawberry can interact with these.
Rare allergic reactions are possible, and pregnant or nursing parents should talk with their pharmacist before use.

Strawberry by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Herbal Terra's Strawberry liquid extract does interact with medications.
The main concern is with drugs that depend on a cellular pump called p-glycoprotein (a protein that moves certain medications out of cells). Strawberry extract may block this pump in the test tube, which could theoretically raise levels of affected drugs in your body — a Moderate severity interaction.
Until we know more, use it cautiously if you take p-glycoprotein substrate drugs.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Strawberry extract may also increase bleeding risk if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (Moderate severity). Lab and animal research shows it can reduce platelet clumping, so combining it with aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), warfarin, or similar medications warrants care.
Alto gether, these interactions span 310 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to search for your exact prescriptions before you start.

certified organic Strawberry (Fragaria vesca) dried leaf liquid extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
In vitro and animal research suggests that strawberry extract can inhibit platelet aggregation due to its phenolic content. Theoretically, strawberry might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.
P-Glycoprotein Substrates
In vitro research suggests that strawberry extract can inhibit p-glycoprotein efflux. Theoretically, strawberry might inhibit p-glycoprotein mediated drug efflux and potentially increase levels of drugs that are substrates of p-glycoprotein. Until more is known, strawberry should be used cautiously in people taking p-glycoprotein substrates.
Drugs that might be affected include some chemotherapeutic agents (etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), protease inhibitors (amprenavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, saquinavir), H2 antagonists (cimetidine, ranitidine), some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, verapamil), corticosteroids, erythromycin, cisapride (Propulsid), fexofenadine (Allegra), cyclosporine, loperamide (Imodium), quinidine, and others.
