Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Partial disclosure
SuperPure Resveratrol contains three active ingredients. Trans-resveratrol is the primary one—a polyphenol extracted from Red Wine Grape and Japanese Knotweed (also called Hu Zhang), which is why the product lists both as separate extracts.
The product is encased in a vegetarian capsule; there are no other inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence is mixed. Trans-resveratrol is possibly effective for obesity and allergic rhinitis (hay fever), but possibly ineffective for cardiovascular disease and high cholesterol.
Japanese Knotweed and Red Wine Grape have insufficient evidence for most of their traditional uses—gout, wound healing, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and unstable angina. Red Wine Grape extract is possibly effective for chronic venous insufficiency (leg swelling from poor circulation) but possibly ineffective for nausea from chemotherapy, hay fever, and obesity.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
At typical supplement doses, resveratrol is generally well tolerated, though higher doses may cause diarrhea, loose stools, and digestive discomfort. Rare reports include headache, fatigue, memory problems (in dialysis patients), and skin rash.
Red Wine Grape and Japanese Knotweed are generally well tolerated as food; concentrated supplement forms of Japanese Knotweed may cause digestive upset from its emodin content. The product is not recommended during pregnancy—concentrated resveratrol supplements and Japanese Knotweed should be avoided due to limited safety data.
Breastfeeding is also not advised for resveratrol or Japanese Knotweed concentrates due to insufficient information, though Red Wine Grape supplements have limited data and should be discussed with your doctor or pharmacist.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your exact medications against this product if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin, dabigatran, rivaroxaban), drugs metabolized by CYP enzymes (2C19, 1A2, 3A4, 2D6, 2E1—a very long list), cyclosporine, carbamazepine, midazolam, or estrogen replacement therapy. Severity is Moderate for most; the carbamazepine interaction is Minor.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glancePartially disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may be worth considering if you're interested in potential benefits for hay fever or obesity, but it's not the right choice if you take blood thinners, heart medications, or immunosuppressants like cyclosporine. Talk to your pharmacist before starting—the interaction profile is complex, and your specific medications need to be checked against this product's three active ingredients.

SuperPure Resveratrol by Pure Synergy Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
SuperPure Resveratrol by Pure Synergy contains three active ingredients—trans-resveratrol, Japanese Knotweed extract, and Red Wine Grape extract—all of which interact with medications.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners (anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs): all three ingredients may increase bleeding risk because they seem to have antiplatelet effects.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Resveratrol and Japanese Knotweed may theoretically increase the levels of several enzyme-metabolized drugs (CYP2C19, CYP1A2, CYP3A4, and CYP2E1 substrates), though most haven't been confirmed in humans. Red Wine Grape extract creates additional complexity: it may reduce levels of CYP1A2 drugs in one direction, but increase CYP2D6, CYP2E1 levels in another.
Grape extract also affects CYP3A4 unpredictably—it may inhibit or induce it—and can reduce cyclosporine absorption by up to 30% if taken together, as well as theoretically decrease long-term effects of midazolam. Japanese Knotweed alone carries a minor interaction with carbamazepine.
Additionally, Japanese Knotweed may compete with estrogen therapy. The grape component also has a documented moderate interaction with the pain reliever phenacetin.
Altogether, these interactions span 915 individual medications. Use the medication checker below before starting this product.

organic, SuperPure Resveratrol extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Resveratrol may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Resveratrol seems to have antiplatelet effects.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
In vitro research suggests that resveratrol inhibits CYP2E1 isoenzyme. Also, a pharmacokinetic study shows that taking resveratrol 500 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking a single dose of chlorzoxazone 250 mg increases the maximum concentration of chlorzoxazone by about 54%, the area under the curve of chlorzoxazone by about 72%, and the half-life of chlorzoxazone by about 35%. Chlorzoxazone is used as a probe drug for CYP2E1.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.
