Suprema Dophilus Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Vitabase
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Suprema Dophilus against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Suprema Dophilus by Vitabase
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Suprema Dophilus contains 10 active ingredients: four live-organism Bifidobacterium species (B. longum and B. bifidum), four Lactobacillus species (L. acidophilus, L. rhamnosus, L. plantarum, and L. salivarius, plus L. bulgaricus), Bifidobacteria lactis, a prebiotic blend with FOS, and larch arabinogalactan (FiberAid). These are probiotics and prebiotics—beneficial bacteria meant to support your gut health, plus fiber-like compounds that feed those bacteria.
The capsule itself and the inactive ingredients (microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, silica) are just fillers and binders.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence is mixed. Bifidobacterium bifidum and Lactobacillus acidophilus each show possibly effective evidence for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and L. acidophilus is also possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea, Helicobacter pylori infection, and bacterial vaginosis.
However, for most of the other conditions mentioned in the research—hay fever, anxiety, asthma, cognitive decline, common cold, and liver health—the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate these ingredients as effective. The prebiotics and larch arabinogalactan in this product don't have established evidence in our data for their listed uses either.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotics in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is advised if you're seriously ill, have a weakened immune system, or are critically ill—there are rare reports of these bacteria causing infection (bacteremia or sepsis) in those populations. Common mild side effects include bloating, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort; one person reported a dry cough in a trial.
Larch arabinogalactan can also cause bloating and flatulence. Safety data during breastfeeding are limited, so talk with your doctor if you're nursing.
Pregnancy data are also limited—the facts rate Bifidobacterium longum as possibly safe in pregnancy, but the other ingredients haven't been studied enough to know either way.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check this product if you take antibiotics—separate your doses. If you're on immunosuppressant drugs like cyclosporine or tacrolimus, talk with your doctor first because the larch arabinogalactan may interfere with them.
These are Moderate-severity interactions, so don't skip this step.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic blend may help with IBS, antibiotic-related diarrhea, or bacterial vaginosis if you're a generally healthy adult or child. If you take antibiotics, immunosuppressants, or have a compromised immune system, talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting—timing and safety matter here.
Check your exact medications with the tool on this page, and ask your healthcare provider if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.

General Statements
QUALITY AND POTENCY GUARANTEED.
The lactobacillus and bifidobacterium strains used in this proprietary blend are produced exclusively by Danisco, a world in probiotics. Their probiotic strains are stabilized using a patented poly matrix system (patent # 6,653,062) that provides shelf stability at normal room temperature. Each Bio-Enhanced, Acid Resistant Strain (BEARS) has been specifically designed to survive stomach acid secretions during digestion. BEARS eliminates the need for enteric coating by preventing the destruction of viable cells that occurs when weaker strains are exposed to an acid environment.
Our Suprema Dophilus is a highly concentrated and potent multiple species probiotic supplement. It provides a wide array of the most beneficial bacteria in large amounts that help provide an excellent digestive environment within the small and large intestines.

Suprema Dophilus by Vitabase Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Suprema Dophilus by Vitabase is a 10-ingredient probiotic blend, and it does interact with antibiotics.
The most serious documented interaction is Moderate in severity: when you take any of the four live-organism probiotics in this product—Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, or Lactobacillus bulgaricus—alongside antibiotic drugs, the antibiotics may kill enough of the probiotic organisms to reduce their effectiveness. We recommend separating your doses: take the antibiotic as prescribed, then start this product after your course is finished.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Additionally, the larch arabinogalactan (FiberAid Arabinogalactan) in this product may interfere with immunosuppressant medications (such as cyclosporine, tacrolimus, or mycophenolate) because it can stimulate immune activity. If you take any of these drugs, check with your doctor before starting.
We could not check several ingredients in this blend—FOS, Lactobacilli rhamnosus, Bifidobacteria lactis, Lactobacilli plantarum, Lactobacilli salivarius—because we hold no interaction data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 298 individual medications.
Use the medication checker on this page to look up your exact drugs before you start.
