What’s inside
Full disclosure
The Good Stuff Mocha is a 4-ingredient powder. The active ingredients are sodium (from Himalayan Pink Salt), L-theanine (an amino acid from tea), and hydrolyzed bovine collagen.
Beyond those, it contains several inactive ingredients—coconut oil, acacia gum, silicon dioxide, natural flavors (cinnamon, cocoa extract, theobromine, vanilla, ginger, allspice), tapioca starch, and stevia leaf extract.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
L-theanine is possibly effective for cognitive function based on available evidence, though we hold insufficient data on its use for age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer disease, anxiety, OCD, or cancer. Sodium has established uses: it's likely effective for cystic fibrosis and possibly effective for amphotericin B–related kidney injury, but we have insufficient evidence to rate it for bipolar disorder or congestive heart failure.
The other ingredients' effectiveness isn't documented in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-theanine is generally well tolerated in healthy adults for short-term use, though long-term safety hasn't been well studied. Reported side effects include headaches, drowsiness, increased sleep duration, and vivid dreams.
There isn't enough safety data to support L-theanine use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Sodium is essential in small amounts, but too much is linked to high blood pressure and heart strain.
Normal dietary sodium is fine, but you should avoid sodium supplements or very high intake without medical advice. Serious adverse effects from excess sodium (rare) include worsened cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and kidney disease.
Long-term high sodium intake is also linked to increased gastric cancer risk in population studies. We don't have safety data on file for Himalayan Pink Salt or Bovine Collagen, Hydrolyzed.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take any blood pressure medications (antihypertensives), check with us before starting this product—sodium can reduce their effectiveness. Also double-check if you're on lithium, corticosteroids, didanosine, sodium phosphate, tolvaptan, or any other sodium-containing medication.
L-theanine may add to the effects of CNS depressants (sleep aids, benzodiazepines) and has unclear data on serotonergic drugs.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product pairs a common electrolyte (sodium) with an amino acid used for focus and calm. If you take blood pressure medication or lithium, or if you use corticosteroids or any sodium-containing drug, you'll need to check your exact medications before starting it—the sodium content may affect how those work.
Talk with your pharmacist before you use it, especially if you have high blood pressure, kidney disease, or heart disease.

The Good Stuff Mocha by For Wellness Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
The Good Stuff Mocha by For Wellness contains sodium and L-theanine, both of which have documented interactions with medications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Sodium is the primary concern. It interacts with antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications) by potentially reducing their effectiveness—high sodium intake can raise your blood pressure and may require your doctor to increase your medication dose.
This is a Moderate severity issue.
Sodium also affects corticosteroids (steroid medications), lithium, didanosine (an HIV medication), sodium phosphate, tolvaptan, and any other sodium-containing drugs by increasing the risk of high sodium levels in your blood. All of these are Moderate severity.
L-theanine may lower blood pressure (Moderate severity with antihypertensive drugs) and could theoretically add to the sedative effects of CNS depressants like benzodiazepines or sleep aids, though the clinical relevance is unclear (Minor severity). It also has conflicting data on serotonin levels, but no serotonin syndrome cases have been reported with L-theanine use (Minor severity with serotonergic drugs).
We could not check Himalayan Pink Salt and Bovine Collagen, Hydrolyzed for interactions—we don't hold data for those ingredients. Altogether, these interactions span 595 individual medications.

For each ingredient in The Good Stuff Mocha with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
L-Theanine
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theanine might lower blood pressure, potentiating the effects of antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research shows that theanine can lower blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive animals. Theoretically, concomitant use of theanine and antihypertensive drugs might potentiate the antihypertensive activity.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, theanine might have additive sedative effects when used in conjunction with CNS depressants. However, it is unclear if this concern is clinically relevant.
Theoretically, theanine may compete with glutamate and/or increase plasma gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels, which could cause CNS depression. In one clinical study, some subjects taking oral theanine reported drowsiness.
Serotonergic Drugs
Clinical studies regarding the effects of L-theanine on serotonin levels are conflicting. Some studies suggest it can increase serotonin levels in the brain while others report that it may decrease them. Nevertheless, there have been no reports of l-theanine being a causative agent in serotonergic-related side effects or serotonin syndrome.
Sodium
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, a high intake of dietary sodium might reduce the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs.
High intake of dietary sodium can increase systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Also, high intake of sodium may necessitate increased use of antihypertensive medications to achieve blood pressure control in some patients, such as those with chronic kidney disease.
Corticosteroids
Concomitant use of mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids (corticosteroids) cause sodium retention. This effect is dose-related and depends on mineralocorticoid potency. It is most common with hydrocortisone, cortisone, and fludrocortisone, followed by prednisone and prednisolone.
Didanosine (Videx)
Concomitant use of didanosine with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Didanosine formulations contain a significant amount of sodium.
Lithium
Altering dietary intake of sodium might alter the levels and clinical effects of lithium.
High sodium intake can reduce plasma concentrations of lithium by increasing lithium excretion. Reducing sodium intake can significantly increase plasma concentrations of lithium and cause lithium toxicity in patients being treated with lithium carbonate. Stabilizing sodium intake is shown to reduce the percentage of patients with lithium level fluctuations above 0.8 mEq/L. Patients taking lithium should avoid significant alterations in their dietary intake of sodium.
Sodium Phosphates
Theoretically, concomitant use of sodium phosphate with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Use of high doses (> 45 mL in 24 hours) of sodium phosphate, such as those used for bowel cleansing before surgery, can lead to serious electrolyte disturbances, including hypernatremia. The risk of hypernatremia is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Sodium-Containing Drugs
Concomitant use of sodium-containing drugs with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia and long-term sodium-related complications.
The Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) intake level of 2.3 grams of sodium daily indicates the intake at which it is believed that chronic disease risk increases for the apparently healthy population. Some medications contain high quantities of sodium. When used in conjunction with sodium supplements or high-sodium diets, the CDRR may be exceeded. Additionally, concomitant use may increase the risk for hypernatremia; this risk is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Tolvaptan (Samsca)
Theoretically, concomitant use of tolvaptan with sodium might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Tolvaptan is a vasopressin receptor 2 antagonist that is used to increase sodium levels in patients with hyponatremia. Patients taking tolvaptan should use caution with the use of sodium salts such as sodium chloride.
