V-Nzyme Blend contains 9 active ingredients, all digestive enzymes designed to help break down food. Protease and acid protease break down proteins; lipase tackles fats; amylase and cellulase work on carbohydrates and fiber.
Alpha-galactosidase helps with complex sugars that can cause gas. The blend also includes three fungal enzyme sources: aspergillus niger, aspergillus oryzae, and rhizopus oryzae.
Several inactive ingredients like slippery elm and marshmallow are also present in the capsule.

The evidence for these enzymes is limited. Lipase has been studied for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and dyspepsia (indigestion), but the data we hold rates both as having insufficient reliable evidence.

Well-documented data
Protease and acid protease are generally well tolerated in most adults, though some people report digestive upset or allergic reactions. Rarely, occupational exposure to these enzymes has caused allergic rhinoconjunctivitis or asthma — mainly in industrial settings.
Lipase is similarly well tolerated in supplement form, but people with serious digestive conditions should use it only under medical guidance. During pregnancy, the safety data for protease and acid protease advises against use unless prescribed by your doctor; for lipase, use only if your doctor recommends it.
Breastfeeding is not recommended for any of these without medical advice due to limited safety data.
