BioSpora Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Klaire Labs
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking BioSpora against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of BioSpora by Klaire Labs
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
BioSpora has 2 active ingredients, both spore-forming bacteria that are meant to support gut health. Bacillus coagulans and Bacillus subtilis are live, freeze-dried microorganisms that survive stomach acid and settle in your intestines.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients—a plant cellulose material (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose), coconut oil powder, and water—that serve as fillers and stabilizers.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Bacillus coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). There's not enough solid evidence yet to rate it for antibiotic-associated diarrhea, athletic performance, cancer, or fatty liver disease.
Bacillus subtilis is possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea, but evidence is insufficient to rate it for athletic performance, cirrhosis, constipation, eczema, or diabetes. In short: the data supports use for a couple of digestive complaints, but a lot of claimed benefits don't have the research to back them up yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both ingredients are generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though evidence and product quality vary from brand to brand. Safety data overall is limited, so talk to your doctor before starting if you have any health concerns.
There's a small risk that live probiotic organisms could cause infection in people with very weak immune systems, central lines or catheters, or severe illness—case reports exist, though infection in otherwise healthy people is rare. One trial participant reported a headache with Bacillus subtilis, and very rare cases of diarrhea have been reported.
The pregnancy and lactation safety data are incomplete on file—talk with your doctor or pharmacist for guidance if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotics are the main concern—they'll kill the live bacteria in this product and make it less effective. Separate your antibiotic dose from BioSpora by several hours.
Check any antibiotic you take (including both prescription and over-the-counter types) with your pharmacist before starting this supplement.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
BioSpora may help with constipation, IBS, or diarrhea caused by antibiotics, but the evidence is still modest. If you're taking antibiotics, you'll need to space out your doses.
Talk to your pharmacist before you start, especially if you have a weak immune system or are seriously ill.

BioSpora by Klaire Labs Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report

Probiotic Blend
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
