Clinical
Acetaminophen is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever. Acetaminophen is in a class of medications called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). It works by changing the way the body senses pain and by cooling the body.
Read the full MedlinePlus article ↗This is an over-the-counter kit containing two multi-ingredient formulations intended to be taken during the day and night to address cold and flu symptoms. The day formula contains acetaminophen (a pain reliever and fever reducer), dextromethorphan (a cough suppressant), guaifenesin (an expectorant that helps thin mucus), and phenylephrine (a decongestant). The night formula contains acetaminophen, dextromethorphan, phenylephrine, and triprolidine (an antihistamine). These ingredients are typically combined in over-the-counter cold and flu products to help manage multiple symptoms at once.
