Clinical
This is an over-the-counter topical ointment containing lanolin and petrolatum as the active ingredients. Both substances are emollients, meaning they are typically used to soften and moisturize the skin by forming a protective barrier that helps prevent water loss. This product is marketed as an OTC monograph drug, which means it follows FDA's established guidelines for skin protectant and moisturizing products in this category rather than being individually reviewed by the FDA.
