Clinical
This is an over-the-counter topical ointment containing lanolin and petrolatum as active ingredients. Both are occlusive moisturizers that are typically used to help soften and protect dry skin, minor wounds, and chapped or irritated areas when applied directly to the skin. As an OTC monograph product, it is marketed under established FDA guidelines for skin protectant ointments rather than through individual product approval. The greasy base helps seal in moisture and create a barrier against further irritation.
