Clinical
This is an over-the-counter topical ointment containing petrolatum as its active ingredient. Petrolatum is commonly used as an occlusive moisturizer and skin protectant that forms a waterproof barrier on the skin surface. The product is marketed as an OTC monograph drug, meaning it follows established FDA guidelines for this category rather than undergoing individual product review. It is applied directly to the skin to help lock in moisture and protect against irritation.
