💊 About Doxycycline Injection DRUG GUIDE
Doxycycline injection is used to treat serious infections caused by many different types of bacteria.
It covers conditions such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever, typhus, Q fever, tick fevers, relapsing fever, plague, tularemia, cholera, chancroid, brucellosis, psittacosis, lymphogranuloma venereum, granuloma inguinale, trachoma, and anthrax — including inhalational anthrax after exposure to aerosolized Bacillus anthracis.
It also treats certain respiratory, skin, soft-tissue, and urinary infections caused by susceptible bacteria, and can be used as an adjunct (add-on treatment) in acute intestinal amebiasis.When penicillin cannot be used, doxycycline injection is an alternative for infections such as syphilis, yaws, gonorrhea, and infections caused by Listeria, Clostridium, and related organisms.
It is given by IV only when oral antibiotics are not appropriate, and patients are switched to oral therapy as soon as possible.
