This is an excellent question! Zinc is very important to look into before adding to your medication regimen as it is known to have very impactful interactions.

For example, zinc is well known to interact with various antibiotics, such as cephalexin—which may reduce their absorption and effectiveness. For more detailed information on the interaction between zinc and cephalexin (which is applicable to many different antibiotics), please see our page on this interaction: Zinc - Cephalexin Interaction Details | HelloPharmacist.

Fortunately, there are no known interactions between zinc and Eliquis (apixaban). Zinc does not chelate with Eliquis, and current evidence indicates that taking a zinc supplement together with Eliquis is safe. You can find more details on this here: Zinc - Apixaban Interaction Details | HelloPharmacist.

If you are considering taking a zinc supplement, it appears to be safe to combine it with Eliquis but as always, be sure to consult with your doctor before adding on any drugs or supplements to your medication regimen.
