Concomitant use of probenecid with acetaminophen is not recommended as it may increase acetaminophen exposure. Although the clinical significance of this observation has not been established, a lower dosage of acetaminophen may be required to produce a therapeutic effect, and if coadministered, cautiously increase acetaminophen dosage in small increments. Although specific instances of toxicity due to this potential interaction have not been observed to date, be alert to this possibility1.
