Inhaled beclomethasone dipropionate is absorbed into the circulation and can be systemically active. Coadministration of beclomethasone with a strong CYP3A4 inhibitor may result in hypothalamic pituitary- adrenal (HPA) dysfunction. Observed carefully for any evidence of systemic corticosteroid effects due to the possibility of significant systemic absorption of an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS). It is possible that systemic corticosteroid effects such as hypercorticism and adrenal suppression (including adrenal crisis) may appear in a small number of patients who are sensitive to these effects. If such effects occur, appropriate therapy should be initiated as needed1.
