Concurrent use of buspirone and a reversible MAOI, such as linezolid, is contraindicated. Buspirone should not be started in a patient who is being treated with linezolid. There may be circumstances when it is necessary to initiate treatment with linezolid in a patient taking buspirone. Buspirone should be discontinued before initiating treatment with linezolid. The patient should be monitored for symptoms of serotonin syndrome for 2 weeks or until 24 hours after the last dose of linezolid, whichever comes first. Therapy with buspirone may be resumed 24 hours after the last dose of linezolid1.
