Coadministration of lovastatin and nirmatrelvir/ritonavir is contraindicated due to the potential for myopathy including rhabdomyolysis. Discontinue lovastatin at least 12 hours prior to initiation of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir, during the 5 days of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir treatment and for 5 days after completing nirmatrelvir/ritonavir1. Consider treatment with an alternative concomitant drug or COVID-19 treatment if temporarily withholding lovastatin is not clinically reasonable 2.
