Linezolid, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), and vasopressive agents, such as norepinephrine, should not be used concomitantly without monitoring for potential increases in blood pressure1. Severe, prolonged hypertension may result with concomitant use. Norepinephrine should be used with extreme caution in patients receiving MAOIs 2. If concomitant use is required, initial doses of norepinephrine should be reduced and subsequently titrated to achieve the desired response 1.
