Balneotherapy + Risankizumab-Rzaa
Risankizumab-Rzaa brand name: Skyrizi.
We found no known interaction between Balneotherapy and Risankizumab-Rzaa in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Balneotherapy and Risankizumab-Rzaa
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Risankizumab-Rzaa and Balneotherapy in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Balneotherapy alongside specific medications may be limited.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Balneotherapy at all — not against Risankizumab-Rzaa, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
Balneotherapy is a treatment rather than something you take. Tell whoever provides it which medicines you use, and ask your prescriber whether it is appropriate for your health and treatment. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.
Balneotherapy safety at a glance
Pregnancy & breastfeeding ratings are from Natural Medicines (Therapeutic Research Center) — the full detail is in the Special populations card below. Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.
Balneotherapy in Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
When heated balneotherapy is used. Conditions that increase maternal core temperature above 39°C have been associated with increased risk of teratogenicity. Some early research also found an association between maternal heat exposure in the form of a hot tub or sauna during the first trimester and increased risk of neural tube defects. While a more recent analysis of clinical research shows that it is safe for pregnant women to sit in hot baths at 40°C (104°F) or in saunas at 70°C (158°F) for up to 20 minutes, regardless of trimester, clinical practice guidelines by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists still discourage pregnant women from using hot water baths during pregnancy due to possible risks. Until more is known, pregnant women should avoid hot balneotherapy baths and other treatments. There is insufficient reliable information available about the safety of balneotherapy heated to less than 39°C; avoid using.

What Risankizumab-Rzaa Is Prescribed For, and What Balneotherapy Has Been Studied For
These two come up together because they touch the same health topic — not because they do the same job. Risankizumab-Rzaa is a prescription medicine with approved uses on its FDA label. Balneotherapy is a treatment: what follows is what researchers have looked at it for, and how strong that evidence is.
Risankizumab-Rzaa is prescribed for: Skyrizi (risankizumab-rzaa) injection is approved to treat moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and active psoriatic arthritis in adults and children 6 years of age and older. It is also approved for moderately to severely active Crohn's disease and moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in adults. For plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, Skyrizi is given as a subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injection. For Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, Skyrizi treatment begins with intravenous (IV) infusions given in a clinical setting, followed by subcutaneous maintenance injections.

Balneotherapy for psoriatic arthritis
Preliminary clinical research shows that balneotherapy in the Dead Sea mineral baths reduces tender points and active joints in patients with fibromyalgia and psoriatic arthritis when compared to baseline. The validity of these findings is limited by the lack of a comparator group.

Effectiveness ratings and the research summaries above are the verbatim record from the Natural Medicines database, which grades evidence from “Effective” down to “Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate”. A rating below the top of that scale means researchers have looked at it — not that it works, and never that it can stand in for a prescribed medicine. Do not stop or replace Risankizumab-Rzaa on your own; if you are taking Balneotherapy for the same health topic, tell your prescriber, especially if the medicine is being adjusted to a target.
See Every Supplement That Interacts With Risankizumab-Rzaa
This page covers Balneotherapy only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Risankizumab-Rzaa page lists 53 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Active Hexose Correlated Compound (ahcc) (moderate), Alfalfa (moderate), American Ginseng (moderate), Andrographis (moderate) and Ashwagandha (moderate).
By severity: 52 moderate · 1 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Risankizumab-Rzaa page
“Echinacea captures the concern on this page better than any other entry. Risankizumab-rzaa (Skyrizi) treats plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and Crohn's disease by quieting one arm of the immune system, and echinacea, like nearly all 53 ingredients listed here, is taken specifically to stir the immune system up.”

About Balneotherapy
What is Balneotherapy?
- Osteoarthritis joint pain
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Low back pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Psoriasis and skin conditions
- Relaxation and stress relief
Balneotherapy is a traditional treatment that uses bathing in mineral-rich or thermal water, often combined with mud or other natural elements, mainly for joint and skin problems. Some studies suggest it may ease pain and stiffness in conditions like osteoarthritis, but the quality of evidence is limited and benefits may be short-term. It is generally considered low-risk for healthy adults, but people with heart problems, open wounds, or certain medical conditions should check with a doctor first.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Balneotherapy is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Balneotherapy record says about it on its own.
Balneotherapy: dosing
There is no single standardized "dose" for balneotherapy. Treatment programs vary widely in water temperature, mineral content, length of each session, and number of sessions per week. Avoid very hot water and overly long sessions, and stop if you feel dizzy, overheated, or unwell.
