Drug & supplement interaction

Baobab + Sacubitril, Valsartan

Sacubitril, Valsartan brand name: Entresto.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Baobab and Sacubitril, Valsartan in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Baobab and Sacubitril, Valsartan

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Sacubitril, Valsartan and Baobab in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Baobab at all — not against Sacubitril, Valsartan, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Baobab and Sacubitril, Valsartan May Share Several of the Same Side Effects

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do. One of them is worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

“Entresto (sacubitril and valsartan) is a heart failure medicine, and heart failure patients tend to be heavy supplement users, reaching for fish oil, potassium, and herbal blood-pressure remedies. That instinct carries real risk here.”

About Baobab

What is Baobab?

Baobab
  • Digestive support
  • Source of vitamin C
  • General nutrition and fiber
  • Blood sugar support
  • Skin care (seed oil)

Baobab is a nutrient-rich fruit from a tree native to Africa and is most often used as a food and source of vitamin C and fiber. Early research hints it may help with blood sugar and digestion, but solid human evidence is limited. For most people the fruit powder is considered a safe food, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it as a supplement.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Baobab is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Baobab record says about it on its own.

Baobab: dosing

There is no official standardized dose for baobab. It is most often used as a food, with the fruit powder stirred into water, juice, smoothies, or yogurt.Because products vary in strength, the best approach is to follow the directions on the label and start with a small amount.

About Valsartan and Sacubitril

What Is Valsartan and Sacubitril Used For?

Brand name: Entresto

Sacubitril and valsartan is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure in adult patients with chronic heart failure. The benefit is most clearly seen in patients whose heart pumps with a lower-than-normal ejection fraction (the percentage of blood the heart pushes out with each beat).

It is also approved to treat symptomatic heart failure with reduced left ventricular function in children aged 1 year and older. In pediatric patients, it lowers a blood marker of heart stress (NT-proBNP) and is expected to improve heart outcomes.
