ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Lincomycin HCl
Lincomycin HCl falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Bifidobacterium Animalis Subsp. Lactis interacts with.
Since B. lactis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. lactis preparations by at least 2 hours.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: lincomycin is an antibiotic, and it doesn't tell the difference between bad bacteria and the friendly ones in your B. lactis probiotic. If you swallow them at the same time, the antibiotic can wipe out a good chunk of those live probiotic organisms before they ever get a chance to settle in your gut. So this isn't about the probiotic harming your lincomycin or changing how it works. Your antibiotic will still treat your infection just fine. The concern runs the other way: you may simply waste the money you spent on the probiotic.
An easy fix is timing. Try to space them out by at least 2 hours. Keep in mind this is a theoretical concern based on how antibiotics work, not a dangerous reaction. Check with your pharmacist if you're unsure.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Lincomycin HCl page
“Lincomycin (Lincocin, Lincorex) is an antibiotic usually reserved for serious infections in people who cannot take penicillin, which is exactly why activated charcoal is the one entry here I take seriously. Charcoal binds drugs in the gut and can cut how much antibiotic your body actually receives, and with an infection bad enough to n…”
