Black Rice and Propafenone

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Propafenone and Black Rice in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Black Rice at all — not against Propafenone, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

“Propafenone (Rythmol) steadies abnormal heart rhythms, and medicines with that job leave little room for error, so the 138 supplements and herbs on this list deserve genuine attention before any of them get added on top. About Black Rice

What is Black Rice?

Black Rice
  • Heart health support
  • Antioxidant intake
  • Digestive and gut health
  • Blood sugar and weight management
  • General nutrition

Black rice is a nutritious whole-grain food that is rich in fiber, plant protein, and antioxidant pigments called anthocyanins. Eaten as part of a balanced diet it is a healthy choice, but strong human evidence that black rice or its extracts treat or prevent specific diseases is still limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated black rice supplements.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Black Rice is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Black Rice record says about it on its own.

Black Rice: dosing

There is no established medicinal dose for black rice. As a food, a typical serving is a cooked portion similar to other rice, included as part of a balanced diet. For supplements or extracts, follow the directions on the product label, since amounts vary by product and have not been standardized.

About Propafenone

What Is Propafenone Used For?

Brand names: Rythmol, Arythmol

Propafenone is used to help control abnormal heart rhythms. It is prescribed to delay the return of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter (episodic irregular heartbeats in the upper chambers) and paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT, sudden fast heartbeats starting above the heart's lower chambers) — but only in people who do not have structural heart disease.

It is also used to treat life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias (dangerous fast rhythms starting in the heart's lower chambers). Because of serious safety concerns, it is not recommended for minor or non-life-threatening heart rhythm problems.
