Cabbage Soup Diet and Cefprozil

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Cefprozil and Cabbage Soup Diet in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Cabbage Soup Diet alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Cabbage Soup Diet at all — not against Cefprozil, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Cabbage Soup Diet is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Cabbage Soup Diet safety at a glance

Cabbage Soup Diet overall Use caution It is very low in calories and nutrients and is only meant for a short time, so it is not suitable for everyone.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

What Cefprozil’s Own FDA Label Lists

This is not an interaction — none of it involves Cabbage Soup Diet. These are the most notable effects listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Cefprozil’s own FDA label, for the medication by itself. Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you follow Cabbage Soup Diet and take the medicine.

  • Stomach pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Cefprozil. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 780 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Cefprozil that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Cabbage Soup Diet’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Cabbage Soup Diet side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Cabbage Soup Diet has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Cefprozil page

“Cefprozil (Cefzil) is a cephalosporin antibiotic, usually a short course for ear, sinus, throat, or skin infections, and three of the 60 supplements on this list warrant real caution even for a week of pills. Activated charcoal can bind the drug and pull it out of your system before it works.”

About Cabbage Soup Diet

What is Cabbage Soup Diet?

  • Rapid short-term weight loss
  • Quick jump-start before an event
  • Detox or cleanse beliefs
  • Kickstarting a longer diet

The Cabbage Soup Diet is a very low-calorie, 7-day fad diet built around eating large amounts of a cabbage-based soup. It may cause quick water and weight loss, but the loss is usually temporary, the diet is not nutritionally balanced, and most people regain the weight. It is not a healthy long-term plan, and people should talk to a doctor or pharmacist before trying it.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Cabbage Soup Diet is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Cabbage Soup Diet record says about it on its own.

Cabbage Soup Diet: dosing

There is no official or standardized version of the Cabbage Soup Diet. Most plans last about 7 days, with unlimited cabbage soup plus a short list of allowed foods that changes each day.Because the diet is not nutritionally balanced, experts advise against following it longer than a week or repeating it back-to-back.

About Cefprozil

What Is Cefprozil Used For?

Brand name: Cefzil

Cefprozil tablets and oral suspension are both used to treat mild to moderate bacterial infections in adults and children. Approved uses include pharyngitis/tonsillitis (strep throat), acute sinusitis, otitis media (ear infections), acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, and uncomplicated skin and skin-structure infections.

Cefprozil tablets are also approved for secondary bacterial infection of acute bronchitis. Because antibiotic resistance is a real concern, cefprozil should only be used when the infection is proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria that respond to it.
