Caffeic Acid + Timolol
Timolol brand names: Blocadren, Timol, Timoptic.
We found no known interaction between Caffeic Acid and Timolol in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Caffeic Acid and Timolol
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Timolol and Caffeic Acid in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Timolol
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Timolol is filed under 5 classifications — including beta-blockers, antihypertensive drugs, cytochrome p450 2d6 (cyp2d6) substrates. Caffeic Acid has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being organic anion transporter 1 (oat1) substrates (moderate), organic anion transporter 3 (oat3) substrates (moderate) and levodopa (minor) — and none of Timolol’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Caffeic Acid Does Interact With Other Medications
Caffeic Acid has 177 moderate, 5 minor known drug interactions in our database — Timolol isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

Questions About Caffeic Acid or Timolol
These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Caffeic Acid or Timolol, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Timolol
This page covers Caffeic Acid only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Timolol page lists 183 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), American Hellebore (major), American Mistletoe (major), Indian Snakeroot (major) and Tyramine (major).
By severity: 5 major · 151 moderate · 27 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Timolol page
“The supplement list for timolol (Blocadren, Timoptic) calls for genuine care, starting with its five major-rated entries. Timolol is a beta-blocker that slows the heart and lowers blood pressure, and even the eye-drop form absorbs enough to matter.”

About Caffeic Acid
What is Caffeic Acid?
- Antioxidant support
- General anti-inflammatory use
- Skin and sun protection (topical)
- Immune support
- Cancer-prevention interest (research stage)
Caffeic acid is a natural plant compound found in coffee, many fruits, vegetables, and herbs, and it is studied mainly for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Most evidence comes from laboratory and animal research, so its benefits in people are not yet proven. If you want to take it as a supplement, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Naturally occurring plant compound (found in coffee, fruits, and many herbs) · Capsules, tablets, powders, and as part of plant extracts (such as coffee or propolis)
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Caffeic Acid is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Caffeic Acid record says about it on its own.
Caffeic Acid: dosing
There is no established standard dose of caffeic acid as a supplement. Research studies have used different amounts, and a safe, effective dose for general use has not been confirmed. If you choose to use a product that contains caffeic acid, follow the directions on the label and do not exceed the recommended amount.

About Timolol
What Is Timolol Used For?
Brand names: Blocadren, Timol, Timoptic
Timolol is available in ophthalmic (eye) forms and as an oral tablet, and each form has its own approved uses. Ophthalmic formulations — including Betimol, Istalol, Timolol GFS, Timolol hemihydrate, Timolol Maleate eye drops, and Timolol Maleate Ophthalmic Gel Forming Solution — are used to lower elevated intraocular pressure (pressure inside the eye) in people with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.
Timolol Maleate tablets are used orally for three separate conditions: treating high blood pressure (alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines), reducing the risk of death and repeat heart attack in people who have survived a heart attack and are clinically stable, and preventing migraine headaches.

Timolol Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Timolol as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Caffeic Acid — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
