Ripretinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Calamus interacts with.

Theoretically, taking calamus with drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 might increase drug levels and potentially increase the risk of adverse effects.

Here's the gist for Qinlock (ripretinib): your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break it down and clear it out. Lab studies hint that calamus may slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in people, ripretinib could build up in your system, which might mean stronger side effects like fatigue, hair loss, high blood pressure, muscle pain, or skin reactions on your hands and feet.

I want to be honest with you, though: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube research, not real cases in patients. On top of that, calamus carries its own safety baggage (the FDA banned it from foods), so it's one I'd steer clear of anyway. Since ripretinib is a serious cancer drug, please loop in your oncologist or pharmacist before adding any supplement.

Calamus is a swamp plant with a long history in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine, mostly for digestive and nervous-system complaints.
