Carrageenan + Streptokinase
Streptokinase brand names: Kabikinase, Streptase.
Carrageenan has a moderate interaction with Streptokinase. Theoretically, carrageenan may increase the risk of bleeding in patients taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Streptokinase
Streptokinase falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Carrageenan interacts with.
Laboratory research suggests that carrageenan has anticoagulant effects. However, this has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the situation with carrageenan and streptokinase. Streptokinase is a powerful clot-busting drug given in the hospital during a heart attack, stroke, or a serious blood clot. It works by breaking down clots, so bleeding is already its main risk. The concern on file is that, in lab studies only, carrageenan seemed to have mild blood-thinning effects of its own. Stacking that on top of streptokinase could, in theory, nudge your bleeding risk up a bit.
I want to be honest: this is purely theoretical and has never been reported in real people. Since streptokinase is only given under close hospital monitoring, your care team is already watching for any bleeding. Still, mention any seaweed-based supplements to them so nothing is overlooked.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Streptokinase page
“Streptokinase (Kabikinase, Streptase) is the clot-buster given in emergencies like heart attacks, and because its whole job is dissolving clots, this list warrants real respect. Of the 219 supplement and herbal ingredients with interactions on file, 202 have blood-thinning or antiplatelet activity that can push bleeding risk higher.”

About Carrageenan
What is Carrageenan?
- Food thickener and stabilizer
- Digestive complaints (traditional use)
- Cough and sore throat (traditional use)
- Laxative or bowel-related uses
- Antiviral (laboratory interest)
Carrageenan is a fiber-like substance taken from red seaweed and is mostly used as a thickener and gelling agent in foods. There is little solid human evidence supporting it as a health supplement, and some forms (especially degraded carrageenan) have raised digestive and inflammation concerns, so it should not be relied on to treat any condition.
