Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Fenofibrate
Fenofibrate falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Cassia Cinnamon interacts with.
There is some concern that ingesting large amounts of cassia cinnamon for an extended duration might cause hepatotoxicity in some people. Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, which can cause hepatotoxicity in animal models. In humans, very high doses of coumarin from 50-7000 mg/day can result in hepatotoxicity that resolves when coumarin use is discontinued. Lower amounts might also cause liver problems in sensitive people, such as those with liver disease or those taking potentially hepatotoxic agents.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: cassia cinnamon is naturally high in a compound called coumarin, and in large, concentrated supplement doses taken over time, that coumarin can put stress on the liver. Fenofibrate can also occasionally affect the liver, so the worry is that stacking the two together could add up and be a little harder on it. This is a theoretical concern based on how each one works, not something proven to happen often, so I don't want you to panic.
The sprinkle of cinnamon on your oatmeal or in your coffee is not the issue here. The caution is really about daily high-dose cinnamon capsules. Since fenofibrate often comes with periodic liver blood tests anyway, just let your pharmacist or doctor know if you're taking a cinnamon supplement so they can keep an eye on things.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Fenofibrate page
“Fenofibrate (Tricor, Antara) is a cholesterol and triglyceride medicine that can strain the liver on its own, so this list of 59 supplements deserves genuine care rather than a shrug. Most of it, 38 ingredients, involves herbs that also stress the liver, ashwagandha among them, and stacking those effects is the risk that matters most h…”

About Cassia Cinnamon
What is Cassia Cinnamon?
- Blood sugar support
- Digestive upset
- Antioxidant support
- Flavoring and culinary use
- Antimicrobial
Cassia cinnamon is the common, inexpensive cinnamon used in cooking, and it is also taken as a supplement, most often for blood sugar support. The evidence for its health benefits is mixed and far from proven, and because cassia is naturally high in coumarin, taking large amounts regularly may stress the liver. Use food amounts freely, but talk with a pharmacist or doctor before using high-dose supplements.
About Fenofibrate
What Is Fenofibrate Used For?
Brand names: Tricor, Fenofibrate, Lipidil Micro, Lipidil Supra, Antara, Lofibra, Triglide, Lipidil EZ
Fenofibrate is used alongside a cholesterol-lowering diet in adults to improve abnormal lipid levels. Tricor (tablet) and fenofibrate tablets are indicated to lower LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), total cholesterol, triglycerides, and apolipoprotein B, and to raise HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) in adults with primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) or mixed dyslipidemia (mixed abnormal lipid levels). They are also used to treat severe hypertriglyceridemia (very high triglycerides).
Antara and Lipofen (capsules) are indicated to reduce triglyceride levels in adults with severe hypertriglyceridemia, and to lower LDL cholesterol in adults with primary hyperlipidemia when other recommended LDL-lowering therapies cannot be used. Fenofibrate has not been shown to reduce heart attacks or cardiovascular deaths in patients with type 2 diabetes.
