Cassia Nomame and Oxacillin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Oxacillin and Cassia Nomame in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Cassia Nomame at all — not against Oxacillin, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

This is not an interaction — none of it involves Cassia Nomame. These are the most notable effects listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Oxacillin’s own FDA label, for the medication by itself. Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you take both. 6 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • Kidney problems Worth acting on mentioned in 5.7% of FDA reports for Oxacillin
  • Wheezing Worth acting on
  • Hives Worth acting on
  • A low white blood cell count Worth acting on
  • Liver problems Worth acting on
  • An allergic reaction Worth acting on
  • Mouth irritation or sores
  • Fever mentioned in 5.3% of FDA reports for Oxacillin
  • Low blood pressure

Showing the 10 most notable of 19 label-listed effects — ranked by how unusual each one is across medicines generally, with serious effects weighted up.

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Oxacillin. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 1,115 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Oxacillin that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Cassia Nomame’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Cassia Nomame side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Cassia Nomame has no side effects.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Oxacillin

This page covers Cassia Nomame only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Oxacillin page lists 56 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Asarabacca (major), Siberian Cocklebur (major), Aristolochia (moderate) and Bacillus Coagulans (moderate).

By severity: 3 major · 42 moderate · 11 minor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Oxacillin page

“Kidney harm is the first risk to understand with oxacillin (Bactocill, Prostaphlin), a penicillin antibiotic given for serious staph infections. Siberian cocklebur and asarabacca can each damage the kidneys on their own, and combining them with oxacillin risks compounding that harm; both carry major ratings, as does activated charcoal,…”

About Cassia Nomame

What is Cassia Nomame?

  • Weight management
  • Reducing dietary fat absorption
  • Mild fluid retention (diuretic use)
  • Digestive support
  • General 'detox' or slimming blends

Cassia nomame is a legume plant traditionally used in parts of Asia and now marketed mainly in weight-loss supplements for its supposed ability to block fat absorption. Human evidence is very limited and weak, so it should not be relied on for weight loss. If you want to try it, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Chamaecrista nomame · Fabaceae · Whole plant (aerial parts), often used as a tea or extract · Capsules, tablets, tea, and standardized extracts (sometimes in weight-loss blends)

About Oxacillin Injection

What Is Oxacillin Injection Used For?

Brand names: Prostaphlin, Bactocill

Oxacillin Injection is used to treat infections caused by staphylococci (a type of bacteria) that produce an enzyme called penicillinase — meaning they are resistant to regular penicillin. It is specifically chosen when lab tests confirm, or strongly suggest, this type of resistant staph is the cause.

It should not be used for infections caused by bacteria that are still susceptible to regular penicillin G. If lab results show the infection is caused by something other than a resistant staph, treatment with oxacillin should be stopped and a more appropriate antibiotic used.
