Here's the short version on pairing catechu with Kevzara (sarilumab). Sarilumab is an injectable biologic that calms down an overactive immune system to ease rheumatoid arthritis. The concern on file is that catechu has shown immune-tweaking activity in lab dishes and animal studies. In theory, that could nudge your immune system in a direction that works against what sarilumab is trying to do, possibly making your RA control feel less steady.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this is purely theoretical, with no solid human data behind it. It is not a reason to panic. Still, since sarilumab is a serious medication, I'd run any catechu product past your pharmacist or rheumatologist first rather than starting it on your own.

Catechu is an astringent extract made from the heartwood of the Acacia (Senegalia) catechu tree, used traditionally for mouth sores, sore throat, diarrhea, and minor skin problems. Strong human evidence is lacking for most uses, so it should be viewed as a traditional remedy rather than a proven treatment. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medicines.

About Sarilumab Injection

What Is Sarilumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Kevzara

Kevzara (sarilumab) injection is approved for three conditions. In adults, it treats moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) when at least one other disease-modifying drug hasn't worked well enough or caused intolerance. It also treats polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) in adults who haven't responded adequately to corticosteroids or who can't tolerate tapering them.

Kevzara is also approved for polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pJIA) — a form of childhood arthritis — but only in patients who weigh 63 kg (about 139 lbs) or more. It is not approved for pediatric patients below that weight due to the lack of an appropriate dosage form.
