Mycophenolate Mofetil falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Cat's Claw interacts with.

Theoretically, cat's claw might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
In human and laboratory research, cat's claw has been shown to have immunostimulating activity. It stimulates phagocytosis and increases respiratory cellular activity and the mobility of leukocytes. Theoretically, this could interfere with the activity of immunosuppressant medications.

Here's the concern with pairing cat's claw and mycophenolate (CellCept). Your transplant team prescribes this medicine to quiet down your immune system so your body doesn't attack your new organ. Cat's claw seems to do the opposite. In lab and some human studies it appears to rev up immune activity, stirring up the very cells mycophenolate is trying to calm.

So the worry is that cat's claw could push against your medication and weaken its protective effect, which in theory could raise the risk of organ rejection. To be clear, this is theoretical and based on weaker evidence, not strong human proof. But because rejection is so serious, I'd play it safe. Please don't add cat's claw without first checking with your transplant doctor or pharmacist.

What Is Mycophenolate Injection Used For?

Brand name: CellCept

Mycophenolate mofetil is used to prevent the body from rejecting a transplanted kidney, heart, or liver. It is always used alongside other immunosuppressant medicines, not on its own.

CellCept Intravenous (the injectable form) is specifically for transplant patients who are temporarily unable to take oral medication. It is given by IV infusion and is meant to bridge the gap until the patient can switch to an oral form of CellCept.
