Theoretically, taking cat's claw with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Cat's claw contains rhynchophylline. In vitro and animal research suggests that rhynchophylline can lower blood pressure. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the simple version: hydralazine already works by relaxing your blood vessels to bring your blood pressure down. Cat's claw contains a compound called rhynchophylline that, in lab and animal studies, also seems to lower blood pressure a bit. So the worry is that stacking the two could push your pressure down a little too far.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, get a headache, or notice your heart pounding, especially when you stand up quickly. I want to be honest though, this interaction is theoretical. It hasn't actually been reported in people, so it's more of a heads-up than an alarm. If you'd like to try cat's claw, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your blood pressure readings.

The hydrALAZINE Hydrochloride injection form is used in hospital settings for severe essential hypertension when oral medication cannot be taken or when blood pressure needs to be lowered urgently.
