Iloprost falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Coca interacts with.

Theoretically, coca might reduce the effects of antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research suggests that coca and the coca constituent cocaine have hypertensive effects. Theoretically, concomitant use of coca with antihypertensive drugs might interfere with blood pressure control and decrease the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs.

Here's the thing to know about iloprost (Ventavis): it works by relaxing and widening your blood vessels, including the tight ones in your lungs, to bring down that high lung pressure. Coca leaf and its main alkaloid, cocaine, do the opposite. They're stimulants that can tighten blood vessels and push blood pressure up. So pairing the two could work against each other and blunt how well iloprost controls your symptoms, possibly leaving you more short of breath, dizzy, or tired.

This concern is largely theoretical and based on cocaine's known stimulant effects, but the direction is clear enough that I'd steer clear. Please don't change anything on your own. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Coca is a South American plant best known as the natural source of cocaine. While the leaves have a long history of traditional use for altitude sickness, fatigue, and hunger, the whole plant contains cocaine and other alkaloids that make it legally controlled and potentially dangerous in most countries. Only decocainized (cocaine-free) coca extract is used in foods, and there is little reliable evidence to recommend coca as a supplement.

What Is Iloprost Used For?

Brand names: Ventavis, Aurlumyn

Aurlumyn (iloprost injection, given intravenously) is approved to treat severe frostbite in adults, specifically to reduce the risk of losing fingers or toes (digit amputations). Its effectiveness was established in young, healthy adults who experienced frostbite at high altitudes.
