Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Doxepin
Doxepin falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Corn Poppy interacts with.
Animal research suggests that corn poppy leaf extract has sedative effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: doxepin already makes you drowsy. That's actually why the Silenor version is prescribed for sleep. Corn poppy, based on animal studies, seems to have its own mild calming, sedating quality. Put the two together and you may end up more sleepy than you bargained for, with things like next-morning grogginess, dizziness, or feeling foggy and slow.
I want to be honest about the evidence here. This is a theoretical concern drawn mostly from lab and animal work, not strong human studies, so it isn't a sure thing. Corn poppy's compounds are weak. Still, since doxepin is sedating on purpose, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, especially if you drive in the morning.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Doxepin page
“Doxepin is a sedating tricyclic prescribed for depression, anxiety, and often sleep itself, and the people taking it tend to shop the same shelf where the trouble sits. Of the 186 supplements on file, 78 deepen its drowsiness, with alcohol (beer and wine carry major, well-documented ratings) and kava the clearest examples, and I would…”

About Corn Poppy
What is Corn Poppy?
- Cough and sore throat
- Sleep and restlessness
- Mild pain
- Anxiety and nervousness
- Digestive complaints
Corn poppy is a red-flowered plant traditionally used in teas and syrups for cough, sleep, and mild pain. Solid human research is very limited, so its benefits are not well proven, and unlike its relative the opium poppy, it contains only small amounts of weak alkaloids. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Doxepin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Doxepin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Corn Poppy — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
