Here's the gist for Cipro: dandelion may make your body absorb less of the antibiotic. Ciprofloxacin isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about how it gets activated. It's simply that some of dandelion's minerals (like calcium and other metals in concentrated products) can bind to the drug in your gut, so less gets into your bloodstream. Lower levels mean the antibiotic may not knock out your infection as well.

Honestly, this is mostly theoretical. The big drop (about 73%) came from an animal study, and it hasn't been shown in people. A little dandelion in a salad or tea is unlikely to be a problem. Still, to play it safe, I'd separate any concentrated dandelion supplement from your Cipro by a few hours and run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

Ciprofloxacin belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones. It's prescribed to treat bacterial infections in many parts of the body — including the urinary tract, skin, lungs, bones, joints, and digestive system. It's also used to protect against or treat anthrax and plague after exposure.

Because ciprofloxacin carries real risks, it's reserved for milder conditions like sinus infections, simple bladder infections, and flare-ups of chronic bronchitis only when there are no safer alternatives available.
