We found no known interaction between Dash Diet and Dactinomycin in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Dash Diet and Dactinomycin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Dactinomycin and Dash Diet in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — research on Dash Diet alongside specific medications may be limited.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Dash Diet at all — not against Dactinomycin, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

Dash Diet is an eating pattern rather than something you take. Ask your pharmacist or doctor before changing how you eat while on a prescribed medicine: some medicines are dosed around meals, and a change in diet can change how they work. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Dactinomycin. Special populations

Dash Diet in Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Pregnancy Possibly Safe

When used appropriately, short-term. DASH diets have been used with apparent safety during pregnancy for 4-12 weeks. A modified DASH diet called MAMA-DASH, with adequate nutrition and calories for pregnancy, has been used for 20 weeks without reports of adverse events.

Lactation Possibly Safe

When used appropriately while breastfeeding for up to 6 months. The DASH diet is a balanced diet that is not expected to be harmful during breastfeeding. Observational research in exclusively breastfed infants has found that high adherence to the DASH diet for 4-6 months while breastfeeding is not associated with changes in infant weight, height, or head circumference when compared with low adherence to the DASH diet.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Dactinomycin page

“Every supplement flagged against dactinomycin (Cosmegen) tells the same story. This chemotherapy drug works partly by generating free radicals inside cancer cells, and each ingredient on this page is an antioxidant, vitamin C and vitamin E among them, plus turmeric and a couple of vitamin C rich botanicals.”

About Dash Diet

What is Dash Diet?

  • High blood pressure
  • Heart health
  • Lowering cholesterol
  • Weight management
  • Healthy eating pattern

The DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet is an eating plan rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy, with less salt, red meat, and added sugar. It is one of the best-studied diets for lowering blood pressure and is widely recommended by doctors and dietitians. It is a food-based lifestyle plan, not a pill or supplement.

Eating pattern (whole-food diet plan)

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Dash Diet is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Dash Diet record says about it on its own.

Dash Diet: dosing

There is no pill or standardized "dose" for DASH, since it is an eating pattern rather than a supplement. Instead, the plan suggests target servings each day from food groups like vegetables, fruits, grains, dairy, lean protein, and a limited amount of fats and sweets.Sodium goals are usually set at a moderate level, and there is a lower-sodium version that may lower blood pressure even more. The exact amounts depend on your calorie needs, age, and health goals.A registered dietitian or your pharmacist can help you tailor the plan to your needs. Free DASH guides are also available from the NIH and National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

About Dactinomycin

What Is Dactinomycin Used For?

Brand names: Cosmegen, Cosmegan

Dactinomycin is used to treat a range of cancers in both adults and children. These include Wilms tumor (a kidney cancer), rhabdomyosarcoma (a soft-tissue cancer), Ewing sarcoma (a bone and soft-tissue cancer), and metastatic nonseminomatous testicular cancer. For each of these, it is used as part of a multi-drug chemotherapy regimen.

It is also used in post-menarchal patients (those who have had their first period) with gestational trophoblastic neoplasia — a tumor that grows from pregnancy tissue — either alone or in combination with other drugs. In adults, it can be used as part of a regional perfusion procedure to treat locally recurrent or locoregional solid tumors.
