Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Clonazepam
Clonazepam falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Elecampane interacts with.
Elecampane might have sedative effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing with clonazepam (Klonopin): it already works by calming down activity in the brain, which is why it can leave you feeling drowsy, foggy, or relaxed. Elecampane is thought to have mild sedative effects of its own, so the worry is that pairing the two could simply add up. You might feel sleepier than usual, a little more lightheaded, slower in your thinking, or less steady on your feet.
I'll be honest with you, this is a theoretical concern based on how the herb might behave, not on solid human studies, so don't panic. But because clonazepam is already a strong calming medicine, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding elecampane, especially if you drive or notice extra drowsiness.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clonazepam page
“Clonazepam (Klonopin) slows brain activity to control seizures and panic, and most of what interacts with it pushes in one of two directions: deepening that sedation or changing how much drug is in your blood. This is a list to approach carefully.”

About Elecampane
What is Elecampane?
- Cough and bronchitis
- Asthma symptoms
- Loosening mucus (expectorant)
- Digestive upset
- Intestinal worms (traditional)
Elecampane is a traditional herb used mainly for coughs and other respiratory complaints, and as a bitter for digestion. Clonazepam Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Clonazepam as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Elecampane — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
