Here's the gist for Chlorprothixene (Taractan): this older antipsychotic already carries its own anticholinergic load, meaning it can cause things like dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, urinary retention, and feeling foggy or drowsy. The concern with European barberry is that lab studies hint it may have mild anticholinergic activity of its own. Stack the two and you could, in theory, get a little more of those same effects.

I want to be honest about how soft this is. This warning rests on test-tube data only, not real patient reports, so it's more of a theoretical heads-up than a proven problem. Still, since chlorprothixene is the heavier hitter here, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding barberry rather than guessing on your own.
