Here's the simple version: benazepril (Lotensin) lowers your blood pressure, and some animal studies suggest European mistletoe extract may nudge blood pressure down too. Put them together and the worry is that your pressure could drop a little too far. That might leave you feeling dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or off-balance, especially when you stand up quickly.

I want to be honest about how solid this is: it's theoretical, based mostly on lab and animal research, not strong human studies. For many people it may not cause any real problem. Still, mistletoe is a serious product that should only be used under medical supervision, so please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining the two so they can keep an eye on your blood pressure.

What Is Benazepril Used For?

Brand name: Lotensin

Benazepril — sold as Lotensin and under the generic names Benazepril and Benazepril Hydrochloride — is approved to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks.

It can be used on its own or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when blood pressure needs extra control. Lotensin is specifically indicated for the treatment of hypertension to lower blood pressure.
