Daprodustat falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C8 (CYP2C8) SUBSTRATES — the group Fo-ti interacts with.

Theoretically, fo-ti might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2C8.
In vitro research suggests that fo-ti might inhibit CYP2C8. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Daprodustat, sold as Jesduvroq, treats anemia in people with chronic kidney disease by helping your body make more red blood cells. Your liver clears it largely through an enzyme called CYP2C8. Lab studies hint that Fo-ti may slow that same enzyme down. If it did, your body could clear daprodustat more slowly, letting levels creep up and possibly raising the blood-cell-boosting effect or the chance of side effects like high blood pressure, swelling, or blood clots.

Here's the reassuring part: this is only test-tube research, and nothing like it has actually been seen in real patients. So the concern is theoretical. Still, since Fo-ti has also been tied to liver problems, I'd loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

What Is Daprodustat Used For?

Brand name: Jesduvroq

Jesduvroq (daprodustat) is approved to treat anemia due to chronic kidney disease (CKD) in adults who have been on dialysis for at least four months. It works by stimulating the body's own red blood cell production to reduce the need for blood transfusions.

Important limits: Jesduvroq is not a substitute for emergency blood transfusions, and it is not approved for people with CKD who are not on dialysis. It has also not been shown to improve quality of life, fatigue, or overall well-being.
