Ferric Citrate brand name: Auryxia.
Glucomannan has a moderate interaction with Ferric Citrate. Theoretically, glucomannan may decrease absorption of drugs taken orally.

ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Ferric Citrate
Ferric Citrate falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Glucomannan interacts with.
Due to its viscosity and bulking effects, there is concern that glucomannan can decrease the absorption of oral drugs. A small clinical study in healthy volunteers shows that taking glyburide 2.5 mg plus glucomannan 3.9 grams with breakfast reduces plasma levels of glyburide when compared with breakfast and glyburide alone. In addition, animal research demonstrates this effect on amoxicillin, but shows increased absorption of metronidazole. This mouse model also demonstrates that metronidazole elimination is prolonged, but amoxicillin elimination is enhanced by 38%; glucomannan may also affect the distribution of some drugs. To avoid changes in absorption, take glucomannan 30-60 minutes after taking oral drugs.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing with glucomannan: it forms a thick gel in your gut that can physically trap other things you swallow around the same time. Since ferric citrate (Auryxia) works right there in your digestive tract, either grabbing onto phosphorus from your food or releasing iron for your body to absorb, that gel could blunt how well it does its job. The worry is mostly theoretical for this exact drug, but it's a reasonable one.
If absorption drops, you might see your phosphorus levels creep back up, or your iron-deficiency anemia not improve as expected. A simple fix usually solves it: separate the timing. Take your ferric citrate first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before the glucomannan. Please run this by your pharmacist or kidney doctor before changing anything.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ferric Citrate page
“Ferric citrate (Auryxia) does its work in the gut, binding dietary phosphate in kidney disease or supplying iron, and all 17 supplements on this list can interfere with how oral medicines get absorbed. That is worth real caution, starting with the single major-rated entry, activated charcoal, which adsorbs many drugs directly and can m…”

About Glucomannan
What is Glucomannan?
- Weight loss and appetite control
- Constipation
- High cholesterol
- Blood sugar support
- Digestive health
Glucomannan is a soluble fiber from the konjac root that swells into a gel in your stomach, which may help with mild weight loss, constipation, and modestly lowering cholesterol. It is generally well tolerated when taken with plenty of water, but it must be taken carefully because it can swell and cause choking or blockage if not swallowed properly. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting it, especially if you have a health condition or take medicines.
About Ferric Citrate
What Is Ferric Citrate Used For?
Brand name: Auryxia
Ferric citrate tablets — sold as Auryxia and under the generic name Ferric Citrate — are approved for two related uses in adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
For patients on dialysis, they work as a phosphate binder to control high phosphorus (hyperphosphatemia) levels in the blood. For patients with CKD who are not on dialysis, they serve as an iron replacement to treat iron deficiency anemia.
