Frovatriptan falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Glucomannan interacts with.

Theoretically, glucomannan may decrease absorption of drugs taken orally.
Due to its viscosity and bulking effects, there is concern that glucomannan can decrease the absorption of oral drugs. A small clinical study in healthy volunteers shows that taking glyburide 2.5 mg plus glucomannan 3.9 grams with breakfast reduces plasma levels of glyburide when compared with breakfast and glyburide alone. In addition, animal research demonstrates this effect on amoxicillin, but shows increased absorption of metronidazole. This mouse model also demonstrates that metronidazole elimination is prolonged, but amoxicillin elimination is enhanced by 38%; glucomannan may also affect the distribution of some drugs. To avoid changes in absorption, take glucomannan 30-60 minutes after taking oral drugs.

Here's the gist for Frova (frovatriptan): glucomannan is a soluble fiber that swells into a thick gel in your stomach. That gel can physically trap or slow down pills you swallow around the same time, which may mean your body absorbs a little less of the frovatriptan. The worry isn't more side effects, it's the opposite, your migraine relief could come slower or feel weaker if the drug doesn't get absorbed well.

The evidence here is modest and mostly based on other oral drugs, so this is more of a timing caution than an alarm. A simple fix is spacing them out: take your frovatriptan first, then wait at least 30 to 60 minutes before the glucomannan. When you need migraine relief fast, that timing matters most. Check with your pharmacist if you take both regularly.

What Is Frovatriptan Used For?

Brand name: Frova

Frovatriptan succinate tablets are used to treat a migraine headache once it has already started — with or without aura (visual or sensory symptoms that can precede a migraine). It is approved for adults only.

It is not used to prevent migraines from happening in the first place, and it has not been proven effective for cluster headaches. A clear diagnosis of migraine should be established before use.
