Laboratory research suggests that goat's rue extract can inhibit platelet aggregation. Theoretically, goat's rue might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the connection worth knowing. In lab studies, goat's rue appears to make platelets (the cells that help your blood clot) a little less sticky. Abrocitinib, your eczema medicine, isn't a typical blood thinner, but as a JAK inhibitor it can on its own lower platelet counts, especially in the first weeks of treatment. So in theory, stacking goat's rue on top could nudge your bleeding risk a bit higher.

I want to be honest about the evidence: this is theoretical, based on lab work, not real-world reports of people bleeding. Still, watch for things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that are slow to stop. Don't start or stop anything on your own. Just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first, since they may already be checking your platelets on Cibinqo.

What Is Abrocitinib Used For?

Brand name: Cibinqo

Cibinqo (abrocitinib) is used to treat moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and children 12 years of age and older. It is specifically for people whose eczema has not been adequately controlled with other systemic (whole-body) treatments, including biologics, or when those treatments are not a safe option.

Cibinqo is not recommended to be used at the same time as other JAK inhibitors, biologic immunomodulators, or other immunosuppressants (medicines that reduce immune system activity).
