Abrocitinib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Danshen interacts with.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Danshen has been reported to have antithrombotic effects. Animal research also suggests that taking a danshen combination formula with clopidogrel exhibits a synergistic increase in antiplatelet aggregation and prolongation of coagulation time when compared with either taken alone.

Here's something worth knowing about pairing Danshen with Cibinqo (abrocitinib). Abrocitinib is a JAK inhibitor for eczema, and one of its known side effects is a slightly higher risk of bleeding, partly because it can lower your platelet count. Danshen, meanwhile, may thin the blood and slow clotting on its own. Put the two together and you could, in theory, nudge that bleeding risk up further.

To be fair, this concern is based on weak, mostly anecdotal and animal evidence, not solid human studies on this exact combo. Still, I'd watch for things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that take a while to stop. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Danshen, rather than changing anything yourself.

Abrocitinib also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research shows that various constituents of danshen inhibit the activity of CYP2C9. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the basic idea with Danshen and your eczema medicine, Cibinqo (abrocitinib). Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to help break down abrocitinib. Lab studies suggest some compounds in Danshen can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in people, abrocitinib could clear out of your system more slowly and build up a bit, which might mean stronger effects and a higher chance of side effects like nausea, headache, acne, or, more importantly, lowered immune defenses and increased infection risk.

The honest part: this is only seen in test-tube research so far, never reported in actual patients, so it's theoretical. Still, since abrocitinib affects your immune system, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Danshen.

What Is Abrocitinib Used For?

Brand name: Cibinqo

Cibinqo (abrocitinib) is used to treat moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and children 12 years of age and older. It is specifically for people whose eczema has not been adequately controlled with other systemic (whole-body) treatments, including biologics, or when those treatments are not a safe option.

Cibinqo is not recommended to be used at the same time as other JAK inhibitors, biologic immunomodulators, or other immunosuppressants (medicines that reduce immune system activity).
