Theoretically, danshen may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Danshen has been reported to have antithrombotic effects. Animal research also suggests that taking a danshen combination formula with clopidogrel exhibits a synergistic increase in antiplatelet aggregation and prolongation of coagulation time when compared with either taken alone.

Arthrotec pairs an anti-inflammatory pain reliever (diclofenac) with misoprostol, which helps protect your stomach. Here's the thing about diclofenac: like other NSAIDs, it already nudges up your bleeding risk by making platelets a bit less sticky and by irritating the stomach lining. Danshen seems to do something similar, gently thinning the blood and slowing clotting. Stack the two together and those effects can add up.

What that could look like in real life: easier bruising, nosebleeds, or in a worse case stomach bleeding (think black or tarry stools, or stomach pain). To be honest, this warning leans mostly on lab and animal data, not strong human studies, so it's a caution rather than a sure thing. Still, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research shows that various constituents of danshen inhibit the activity of CYP2C9. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Arthrotec is a combo pill: diclofenac (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever) paired with misoprostol (added to protect your stomach). The diclofenac part is cleared from your body partly by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. Lab studies suggest some compounds in Danshen can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in people, diclofenac could build up a bit and hit you harder, meaning more chance of stomach upset, heartburn, ulcers or bleeding, fluid retention, or kidney strain.

Here's the honest part: this is only seen in test-tube and animal work, and it has not been reported in real patients. Danshen can also affect blood clotting on its own, which matters with an NSAID. Please run this combo by your pharmacist or doctor first.
