Danshen + Enoxaparin
Enoxaparin brand name: Lovenox.
Danshen has a major interaction with Enoxaparin. Theoretically, danshen may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Enoxaparin
Enoxaparin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Danshen interacts with.
Danshen has been reported to have antithrombotic effects. Animal research also suggests that taking a danshen combination formula with clopidogrel exhibits a synergistic increase in antiplatelet aggregation and prolongation of coagulation time when compared with either taken alone.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing to keep in mind: Enoxaparin (Lovenox) is already a blood thinner, and it works by blocking substances your body needs to form clots. Danshen, on its own, seems to have its own blood-thinning and clot-slowing activity. So when you put the two together, you're essentially layering one anticoagulant effect on top of another, which can raise your risk of bleeding.
In real life that could look like easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, blood in your urine or stool, or a cut that's slow to stop. I'll be honest with you: this concern is mostly theoretical and based on animal studies and scattered reports, not strong human trials. Still, because Lovenox is a serious medicine, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing it with Danshen.

About Danshen
What is Danshen?
- Heart and circulation support
- Angina (chest pain)
- High blood pressure
- Anxiety and stress
- Liver health
Danshen is a root used in traditional Chinese medicine, mainly for heart and circulation problems. Some early research is promising, but the evidence is not strong enough to confirm it works for any condition, and it may affect blood clotting. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you take other medicines or have a health condition.
About Enoxaparin Injection
What Is Enoxaparin Injection Used For?
Brand name: Lovenox
Enoxaparin Injection is used to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot in a deep vein that can travel to the lungs (pulmonary embolism). This includes people having abdominal surgery, hip replacement surgery or knee replacement surgery. It also includes medical patients with severely restricted mobility during acute illness.
It also treats acute DVT, with or without pulmonary embolism, along with warfarin. In heart care, it is used with aspirin to prevent ischemic complications of unstable angina and non-Q-wave heart attack. It also treats acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), a serious type of heart attack.

Enoxaparin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Enoxaparin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Danshen — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
