Piroxicam falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Danshen interacts with.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Danshen has been reported to have antithrombotic effects. Animal research also suggests that taking a danshen combination formula with clopidogrel exhibits a synergistic increase in antiplatelet aggregation and prolongation of coagulation time when compared with either taken alone.

Here's the thing with Piroxicam: it's an NSAID, and like other anti-inflammatory pain relievers it can already nudge up your bleeding risk a bit. It can irritate the stomach lining and make it easier to bruise or bleed. Danshen has its own reputation for thinning the blood and slowing down clotting, so pairing the two could add those effects together.

I'll be honest, the evidence here is mostly theoretical and based on animal studies and anecdotes, not solid human trials. So I'm not trying to alarm you. Still, since both can affect clotting, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you ever notice unusual bruising, dark stools, or nosebleeds. Please don't stop either one on your own.

Piroxicam also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research shows that various constituents of danshen inhibit the activity of CYP2C9. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for piroxicam (Feldene). Your body clears this NSAID largely through a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In lab dish studies, compounds in Danshen seem to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in real life, piroxicam could linger longer and build up, which may mean stronger effects and a higher chance of NSAID side effects like stomach upset, heartburn, ulcers or bleeding, fluid retention, or kidney strain.

I want to be straight with you though: this is theoretical. It comes from test-tube and animal work, and it hasn't actually been reported in people taking the two together. That doesn't mean ignore it, just don't panic. Run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you have stomach, kidney, or bleeding concerns.
