Here's the simple version: when you swallow guar gum, it turns into a thick gel in your stomach and gut. That gel can grab onto medications taken around the same time and slow down or lessen how much your body absorbs. With Diphenidol (Vontrol), a pill used to calm nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, this could mean you absorb less of it and don't get the full relief you're hoping for.

The good news is this is easy to manage. The general advice is to take your Diphenidol first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before your guar gum. Food amounts of fiber usually aren't the concern, concentrated supplement doses are. Before pairing them, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so your nausea stays well controlled.
